How long do background checks take?

Hey everyone so a while ago I made a post about being without a job for a bit. I finally thankfully got hired at Farmers. The thing is the last step needed is the background check from Farmers. He sent me a email to get signed and then he said I would pay a fee to continue that he would reimburse but after sending the document that gives them the right to do a background check for me there was no other option, it just says the document has been completed and signed. It was on Tuesday, by Friday the boss called me and asked if i received some sort of email saying for me to pay the fee yet to proceed which I explained I havent yet. The boss figured if I can come down maybe that would help him see from my phone so he can understand whats going on. After seeing I still havent received anything he figured to just withdraw the original submission and just restart the process. So I signed another document and it got sent to Farmers, that was Friday. My question is anyone else who is a Farmers agent, how long is the process? I kind of want to start working soon im running low on money im 27 perfectly clean record. Every other job Ive worked at the background check is something that just happens in a day for me.

No job anymore

Hey guys, so I dont have a job anymore…
I waa offered a job at freeway, i did all the licensing for personal lines, I passed, they wanted to me start right away, I said i wanted to put my 2 weeks at my current credit union job because they were good to me, I talked to the hiring manager he said ok to just let him know ahead of time. I text him when I did so, no response, I call him he said he cant talk hes in a meeting. I text the other lady who offered me the position she pretty much goes ghost. She replies back finally almost a week later saying she cant talk that she will let me know. Another week goes by ( I have no job at this point) she still cant talk she says, so I get fed up and go down to the office, she says sorry shes been busy. She goes to the back to talk to the manager she comes back and says sorry we dont have the position anymore, thats why they wanted to hire me so fast because the company dictates how many they can bring on board. And they I guess brought on board 4 people the 3 weeks in total since I said I first had the meeting with the hiring manager. She said maybe in a week or 2 they can have a position open up but given how sketchy they been acting I highly doubt it.

Of course it would of been nice to know all this before putting my 2 weeks. Now I dont have a job and feel embarrassed and lied to. Does anyone have any tips or advice? Do i get a temp job in the meantime? Do i try applying at another insurance company?

Offered a job at freeway insurance

Hey guys I really need advice, so a few months ago I was offered a job at freeway insurance by the manager, i went ahead and did all the exams and passed the personal lines.
I sat down with her today to discuss the role, and pay. Ive worked at wells fargo, a loan office and now at a credit union so Im not nervous about how Ill do really. More its the pay, she said im going to start off at minimum wage, I make 24 at my current job. Of course theres commission but realistically how long will it take until im able to make commission? I feel like stuck in a rock and a hard place, i want a career and i want to make more money, but im nervous about leaving my current job and potentially earning way less right now especially with bills and how expensive everything is right now. Any questions I should as the manager, should I look at another insurance company?

Just finished my Personal lines exam online for California and it was terrible.

The “Proctor” which I’m 99% was AI made me scan my room which was fine enough, about halfway through my exam I got a message saying “An unexpected error has occurred” and kicked me out. I quickly logged back in, only to have to do the entire process over, this time the AI kept asking me “whats the next to your desk, whats under your desk, whats behind the desk, whats that on the wall behind you” it even asked me to clear out shelves that had just had some signed shoes that were completely out of view behind me, even asking me to empty my trash bucket which was off to the side of me! I finally had enough after about 20 minutes of this and got on the phone with support who assured me it wasnt AI which if it wasnt was surely taking the piss out of me. After logging back in one more time, after a few minutes this time they let me back in to take the test but by this point I was so out of it and frustrated how much time I wasted i couldnt focus. Needless to say I failed, but next time for sure will not be taking it online.

Side note Ive taken dozens of exams proctored online before and NEVER had any internet issue or issues taking 25+ minutes to remove and clear out my entire room basically.
