I know lab grown diamonds have been around for a while, but it feels like they've suddenly become everywhere over the last few years. Were people buying them before 2020, or is that when they really took off?

I'm shopping for an engagement ring and most of the recommendations I see now are lab grown. Just curious when they became mainstream and whether anyone here remembers when they started seeing them regularly in jewelry stores and online.
