A friendly reminder to stay healthy: A 3-hour ER visit cost me $1,250 for basically just waiting.

Hey everyone, just wanted to share a quick reality check and remind you all to take care of your health.

I recently had a short ER visit for some lower back tenderness. The main procedures were just basic blood and urine tests, and I even declined the recommended X-ray. I spent about 3 hours there, mostly just waiting in a tiny cubicle.

The final bill just arrived:

  • Hospital Fees: $685
  • Physician Fees: $565
  • Total: $1,250

I sincerely hope none of you ever have to step foot in an emergency room. Stay healthy and wish you all the best!

UPDATE:

some people suggested not to go to an ER for a lower back tenderness, actually it was a heavy pain from a kidney stone. The stones I got after drinking a lot of water are showing as follows:

after exposed in the air, the stones are becomes some powder alike:

25+ °C too hot to get sleep

the air is hot, the ground is hot, the car is hot, everything is hot...

I think it would be better to get a tent on the grass for sleeping in such hot weather.

What do you think?

2013 Toyota Corolla - Brake vibration at highway speeds (front right). Rusty rotor? (Pics attached)

Hey everyone, looking for some advice on a brake issue with my 2013 Toyota Corolla S. I've attached photos of both front rotors for reference.

When I’m driving at highway speeds and hit the brakes, I feel a noticeable vibration/shaking coming from the front right side. As soon as I let off the brakes, the shaking stops. I don’t feel any vibration at all when braking at lower speeds.

Here is what I noticed during inspection (and what you can see in the pics):

  • Driver’s side (Left): Looks relatively smooth, though there are some slight grooves.
  • Passenger side (Right): Doesn't look as smooth as the left side and has some yellowish-brown rust spots/pitting on it.

For context, the car sat a lot over the winter and was barely driven (maybe 20–30 miles a week). Plus, the roads here were heavily salted during the winter.

Could the rust/pitting on the right rotor be causing this vibration? Do I need to replace the rotors and pads?

Thanks in advance for any insights!
