TIL gum has plastic

TIL gum has plastic

Sorry this article is in Dutch, but it revealed to me that most chewing gum has plastic, something I had no idea about before. The Dutch government wants to ban it because so much gum ends up on the street where it lets microplastics go into the environment. I’m thinking about all those plastics going into the gum chewer! Have others heard this about chewing (or bubble) gum? Do you know of natural brands?

Huge quality difference among courses

I’m nearly done with the English->Dutch course, but recently switched to the English->French course to prepare for a trip to France. The difference between the two courses is HUGE, with the French course being SO much better. The Dutch course has gotten much worse over the years, with no actual teaching even happening since the switch to the path. I was pleasantly surprised to find short grammar explanations, a variety of fun exercises to teach the four language skills, and even explanations of mistakes in the French course. Obviously, one still needs to accompany Duolingo with other resources in order to really learn, but it’s a pretty good tool. I wish they would put the same effort into some of the less popular languages.
