18yo community college freshman trying to break into banking — what should my resume look like by transfer/internship recruiting?
I’m 18 and starting community college in California this fall. Long term I’m interested in commercial/corporate banking and corporate finance, but I’m starting with basically no traditional recruiting pipeline.
I came from a small under-resourced high school and chose CC because sending both me and my twin brother away to college was too expensive. I was a good student, and I’m aiming to transfer to UC Berkeley or another strong school after two years.
Right now I’m running/scaling my business, networking heavily, pursuing Associate Banker roles, working toward the MOS Excel certification, planning Excel/finance projects, and looking for freshman internships or externships.
I attached my current anonymous resume. Starting from where I am right now, what would a genuinely strong transfer + banking internship resume look like by the end of my two years at CC? What experiences, skills, internships, clubs, projects, etc. should I be trying to add?
I know I’m young and probably naive about recruiting. I’m willing to work extremely hard, I just don’t want to spend two years working hard on things that recruiters don’t actually care about.
If anyone has gone CC/non-target → strong transfer → banking/finance internship, I’d really appreciate any advice. Is the path I’m aiming for realistic, and what would you prioritize if you were starting from my position?
