Qui-Ya Light on a 40 mile Kings Peak to Red Castle trip
Took my Qui-Ya Light, medium SAR kit bag, and mountain serape on a 40 mile trip up to the highest point in Utah in the High Uintah Mountains in the Wasatch National Forest and surrounding lakes. Kept daily items and food in the kit bag. Basic camp gear and serape in the qui-ya. Not shown in the pic are my boots, which I carried the whole trip only to summit Kings Peak in, as the sandals I wore the rest of the trip were not great for the steep, rocky, class 3 scramble to the top of the 13000ft summit.
I used the serape as part of my sleep system. Which I usually take to about mid to high 40’s. Didn’t anticipate that the weather would drop below freezing during the night. So I was pretty cold and had to use my puffy jacket and survival blanket to stay warm. I was able to discover the limit of the serape which was a valuable learning experience.
