Hi everyone! My husband and I are doing half the TMB in August. Would you suggest clockwise or counterclockwise from Chamonix to Cormayeur? Which half of the TMB did you love the most?
We have the counterclockwise route booked right now, but could book the clockwise routes with a couple varients for the days we're going so just wondering if people noticed a big difference. Unfortunately only able to do half the route for this trip. Let me know :) Thank you!

My husband and I have everything booked that we need for refuges/huts for our trek, except for the many kilometres between Bonhomme and Rifugio Monte Bianco (about 40km apart). Elisabetta, Combal, Mottets and Mason Vielle/le Randonneur are all booked. Do we have a chance for getting one night at one of them in August? Have you found spots open up closer to? Going to be checking the website daily, but not sure what to do otherwise. Our other option was Robert Blanc - which has availability, but that might be a bit much for us. Open to suggestions (including campsites along the way!). Thank you!

I was aiming for sub-4 and finished in 4:10. I’m a 1:37 half marathoner and just couldn’t hang. It was the hottest day of the year in my area and I hit the wall HARD at 30k and then had to walk/run it in after 34k. I was trained and ready, despite a mild hamstring strain in the last month of training that I had managed well. I’m really trying to still be happy to finish despite knowing I was capable of the sub-4 in different conditions. The marathon is HARD man - it’s a whole different beast. Not sure what the point of this post is - maybe looking for anybody else that didn’t hit their time goal the first time running a marathon despite doing everything right?
