Dealing with imposter syndrome as a fairly new journeyman
Any of you guys dealt with feeling like you don’t know enough as a journey?
Finished my apprenticeship and got my red seal about a year and a half ago. I know I’ll still be learning right up until the end of my career, but I feel a ton of internal pressure to have all the answers and know how all the time when, frankly, I feel like I’m flying by the seat of my pants more often than I’d like.
I’m generally well rounded, whether it be formwork, scaffolding, doing stairs or setting doors and windows but I guess I thought I’d feel like more of an expert than I actually do by now.
I know I don’t know all there is to know but I get by with whatever task is thrown at me. Does there come a time when the imposter syndrome dissipates or what?
