Frame TLDR for week of 6/28/26 (7)
Steam Frame Verified ratings show up on SteamDB
With the Frame getting closer and closer, Valve is starting to test a variety of games to see of they can run on the Steam Frame standalone. We're now seeing the results of these tests start to show up on SteamDB for the first time. As of the time of this post, we only have three games listed so far. Day of Defeat as unsupported, Portal 2 as playable, and Into Black as verified. We can assume to see more of these within the coming weeks as Valve starts testing more games. Below is Portal 2's rating.
Steam Frame Wireless Adapter Driver marked as "Released"
Coming back to SteamDB, it seems the drivers for the Frame's Wi-Fi dongle have been marked as "released" on Steam's backend. I'm unsure what this means specifically, but it's movement nonetheless. This isn't an app you traditionally download like any other Steam game or package, so it's unclear why this change was made. Maybe they're getting ready for reviewers? You can't launch this app like other Steam games, so any players in the player count you see are most likely a handful of nerds spoofing the app's ID to make Steam think you're playing it.
COOL THING: Sneak Peek at SteamVR's new Aurora Environment
Thanks to a wonderful slip up from Climbey developer Brian Lindenhof in his new Frame showcase video, we get a new look at the Aurora environment that's been leaked and datamined to hell and back over these past few weeks, now all put together. From what we can see here, it looks incredible. It'll definitely be a pretty backdrop to relax in playing some flat games in theater mode. Go to https://youtu.be/42bTPWjNEVg?t=761 (timestamped) to see it in the video itself. On another note, we can see in the video that the Frame's software has matured greatly since the last Climbey demo video. Exciting stuff!
TLDR: Steam Frame Verified results are being pushed to the backend, updates and changes to the Frame's wireless adapter drivers. The Frame is not out yet.
