How do you handle technical documentation from contractors when putting together P&C submissions for renewable energy projects?

For brokers or anyone involved in commercial renewable energy insurance (specifically BESS, solar or EV charging sites) curious what the documentation collection process actually looks like in practice.

Do contractors typically send you everything you need upfront or is it usually multiple rounds of back and forth before you have enough to submit to an underwriter? And when documents do arrive, are they in a consistent format or is it different every time?

Asking because I keep hearing the submission process described as painful but not sure if that's a universal experience or just certain project types.

How many hours does a typical commercial BESS HMA and ERP actually take from brief to stamp?

Trying to get a realistic picture of the time commitment on the PE side for commercial BESS permitting. Roughly how many hours are you putting into a typical HMA and ERP combined, from when you first get the project brief to when you're ready to stamp? I've heard numbers all over the place and trying to figure out what's actually normal for a straightforward commercial scale project versus something more complex.

How are commercial BESS contractors handling fire safety documentation for permits?

For commercial contractors doing battery storage installs, how are you handling the fire safety documentation side of permitting?

Specifically thinking about the Hazard Mitigation Analysis and Emergency Response Plan. These seem like the most technical and time consuming pieces of the permit package.

Are you going to a fire protection engineer each time, building templates internally or something else? And roughly how much of your project timeline does this eat up?
