Could AI-assisted modding make a full Sudeki fan remake possible?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been thinking about Sudeki a lot lately. It’s one of those games I absolutely love, and seeing how much AI-assisted modding has developed recently made me wonder about something a little crazy:

Could we eventually make something resembling a fan remake of Sudeki through modding and AI?

I don’t mean simply replacing a few textures or character models. I’m talking about something much more ambitious — essentially taking the original Sudeki and rebuilding/upgrading large parts of the game while keeping the original world, characters, story and overall identity.

AI-assisted modding has gotten surprisingly powerful. We’re seeing people use modern tools to bring assets, characters, environments and gameplay elements from completely different games into other engines and games.

And Sudeki actually seems like an interesting candidate for something like this. There are already people modding the game, extracting textures, editing characters and working with SOLData.baf. There is even a relatively recent Mod Merger that can detect conflicts between .baf files and combine mods.

So I was wondering:

With enough reverse engineering, modding knowledge and AI-assisted tools, could something like a “Sudeki Remake Mod” actually be possible?

For example:

  • completely upgraded character models
  • modern/high-resolution environments
  • improved textures and materials
  • redesigned lighting and effects
  • improved animations
  • new or reconstructed cutscenes
  • expanded dialogue or restored content
  • improved enemy AI and combat
  • new quests or areas
  • quality-of-life improvements
  • potentially rebuilding certain systems that are difficult to modify directly

I realize there are obviously technical limitations, especially with a game as old as Sudeki. I’m not expecting AI to magically turn the original game into Unreal Engine 5 overnight.

What I’m really interested in is whether AI could reduce the amount of manual work required enough that a small group of talented modders could realistically attempt something on this scale.

Maybe instead of trying to completely rewrite the original game, the goal could be to gradually replace/rebuild individual systems and assets until the result feels like a modernized version of Sudeki.

I’m not a programmer or reverse engineer myself, so I’d love to hear from people who actually understand the game's file structure and modding capabilities:

How far away do you think something like this is technically? And what would be the biggest obstacle — the engine, the file formats, gameplay code, animations, tools, or something else?

Honestly, I would absolutely love to see what the community could do with Sudeki if modern AI-assisted modding was applied to it.
