AI Crochet Pattern Sellers!!

AI Crochet Pattern Sellers!!

So, last night I sat thinking about what my next project would be, my hubby is going away abroad for business and I thought something for his coach would be good, his nickname is mushroom (long story lol) so I searched on etsy for some ideas... now being a crochetter of 22 years, not to sound big headed but I am really good with making and creating my own patterns, but sometimes I jus feels nice to give other pattern creators something back for their hard work, so anyway I came across this mushroom fella and the photo looked genuin so I thought, lovely! Being only £2.60 I thought ill buy it from them and make it for my hubby... as I begin to read the pattern (which I will always do first) it seemed like half of each of the pieces were missing... like the photos showed 14 rows on the arms beginning with increasing then decreasing to create kind of a teardrop shape for the arms... while reading the pattern there was no increases just a plain straight 6 row arm, I thought id give them benifit of the doubt maybe its their first go at writing or they've possibly written down the wrong stitch? No... so I said right ok, im not gunna bother complaining, ill just work around the pattern and ill do it the way I see it in the picture, like I said, I am genuinely really good with looking at a crochet picture and being able to replicate it quite easily! So I begin to make this mushroom guy AND writing down corrections and my version of the pattern. Anyway, the mushroom guy turned out fabulas and I even made him a little high vis jacket and a shoulder bag to go with it.

Anyway... the next day I get a message from the seller saying thankyou for the purchase and that they would like to offer me a free pattern from their shop for exchange for a review, I replied and told them what happened and that I won't leave a review as it would look bad on them and steer potential customers away, I stated that I spent 4 hours adapting the pattern and they asked me to send it over so they could correct it. I denied and told them alot of hard work went into adapting the pattern and I will not release it unless I am paid for it.

Again they offered me a refund and a free pattern. So I was like ok... another pattern for me to adapt, no thankyou! I told them that I would like 4 hours of the UKs minimum pay, I will then write up the pattern so it is in decent format and I will send it to them, all rights ect will then belong to them and I will proceed to delete it from my system.

Now the Uk minimum wage is £12.71

Times that by 4 = £50.84

now keeping in mind I also used all my own materials... so the total price would be well over £100!

Am I being unfair to request this amount?

I'd love to hear your thoughts! X
