Central Market Cafe

Central Market Cafe

First, I love Central Market. Not a weekly shopper, but I make it out once or twice a month.

As a parent, I find myself at the North Lamar playground and cafe pretty often.

The café has gotten to the point where the food is just... inedible. I've given up, and now I just grab a beer and gelato (honestly, a top 10 deal in Austin if you have kids). That's it.

And it baffles me. They have access to incredible ingredients, they teach cooking classes, but the food comes out depressing and sloppy.

This was a $7 kids' chicken tenders and fruit. That's half a single strawberry in a medicine cup. How is this possible with the central market's produce section steps away?

The breakfast I got a few weeks ago was dry toast, very undercooked potatoes, and overcooked eggs.

I'm not a foodie, and I'm not asking for 5-star food. I love basic food. A cafe connected to a grocery store as good as Central Market should be a gem for basic food.

I don't remember it always being bad. Am I crazy, or has this gotten worse (like everything) over the last few years?
