Project Pan June Empties: 7

Project Pan June Empties: 7

Slow month but better than months before. Glad to get out of this stagnant / slow progress period.

Products:

  1. Nivea deo: okay but scent is too strong for me.
  2. Essence serum: mixed with body lotion and used on legs. Too fragrant for my face and I don't like liquid primers in my makeup routine.
  3. Gilette shaving gel: I prefer the instant foam one, this is less effective on me.
  4. Superfood blueberry mask: So purple and smelks very earthy. No particular benefit noticed.
  5. Zara Rose Gourmand: amazing! Summery.
  6. YSL Libre Eau de Parfum sample: So lovely.
  7. Yves Rocher Flower Party eau de toilette (2010's): From my mom's old fragrances. Okay, nothing special. Not my scent story.
  8. Razor from Kruidvat 5 blade multipack: Great!

Project Pan May Empties: 6 empties + 3 declutters!

Heya! I'm glad to have had more progress this month on my PP. Last month I only had 4 empties and that was with sometimes ecxessive use because it quickly became hate panning... I have now agreed with myself I'm not hate panning again, it simply sucked any joy out of my routines.

I'm glad to say this month's pans were mostly well-liked or loved!

Product list:

  1. Rituals - Ritual of Ayurveda shower mousse 200ml 💗
  2. Kruidvat natures - eucalyptus and rosemary showergel 400ml 🔁
  3. Garnier - oil micellair water 400ml 💗
  4. Essence - lash princess waterproof mascara black 🆗
  5. Yves Rocher - shea butter & peach kernel scrub 75ml 🆗
  6. Mixa - cica urea 10% repair creme sample 7ml 🚫

Explanation

  1. Rituals: Loved! Holy Grail.
  2. Kruidvat: Would repurchase but in another version. I prefer the almond one!
  3. Garnier: love!
  4. Essence: Okay product but wouldn't repurchase. Mascara is amazing but so hard to get off.
  5. Yves: scrub is so softening but quite expensive. Good initiative to use crushed up peach seeds instead of plastic kernels!
  6. Mixa: Disliked! The fragrance in this mixa is far too strong. I'm glad i bought a cheaper homebrand version of this and not the large Mixa tub. (Fun fact: the sample was given to me right as I purchased the homebrand version lol!)

Legend:
💗 Holy grail!
🔁 Would repurchase in another version.
🆗 Okay product.
🚫 Disliked!

Decluttered list:

  1. Maybelline sky high brown mascara 💗
  2. Yves Rocher Volume Longeur mascara 🚫
  3. Yves Rocher Volume Elixir 🆗

These were all over 3 years old and I truly had to accept it was time to part ways. The Maybelline sky high in black and brown are holy grails for me!

The one mascara that I did include in my pans is the 'least' old, though it's still over 2 years old I believe. Earlier this month I realised I am risking my eye health after experiencing slight itchy eyes (unconfirmed if the mascara's were the cause, but luckily I did not suffer any reactions or infections). I chose to declutter the 3 oldest and to consider the 'newest' one a pan.

This month I purchased ONE new mascara that I will use for 3 months, as I've heard this is the safest time frame to use it in. I also started adding opening dates to my spreadsheet so I can track way better! It was hard to get just one but I'm glad I stayed strong in the store!

I'm glad this month's empties were mostly items I loved! These were long-term pans as most of these packages were big and took a while to even get a dent in.

PS: I'm learning what style of posts I like to make and what layout I like to use in my updates. Bear with me as I experiment!

Happy panning to everyone!

Project Pan Progress: 176 products as of April

I started with 215 products on January 1st 2026. As the end of April, I am at 176 products. The picture shows (almost) all those 176 remaining products together spread out.

This is such an insane visualisation. I did not do this when I started with PP, but to imagine this picture + 51 more items on it is insane! I'm glad to be at least 51 products down from where I started.

I use a spreadsheet to stay organised. Most products so far I have panned, some I have sold on Vinted and some I have gifted to others. Some have expired and some have simply been decluttered.

Project pan has been an eye opener and I'm honestly shocked to see just how much is left. My cabinets and closet feel lighter and look better but I still have a lot of products. I don't need this many items...

I am working on it but I find makeup is my biggest and slowest category. I am working with a makeup rotation for everyday makeup and for a full face also. The slow progress is a bit demotivating but I have seen usage on my routine products and I'm glad. No actual 'pans' yet but hopefully soon!

These are my January vs April tallies per tracked category.

💄 Make up: Jan 89 - Apr 85 items
🎀 Hair Care: Jan 32 - Apr 22 items
🧴Body Care: Jan 43 - Apr 28 items
🥒 Face Care: Jan 19 - Apr 11 items
💌 Perfumes: Jan 32 - Apr 30 items

(This is not AI! I just wanted to use emojis to categorise 😭).

I hope this can show you what an inventory of 176 can look like. This took up my whole one person bed (90x200cm), which is insane. The original 215 items would probably not even have fit on here for a picture.

My goal is to get down to a few holy grails for each (sub)category and perfect a routine that works for me. I also hope to learn more mindful consumption and consistency with product usage. I am on a no buy for most categories of products but I have purchased a few items here and there. I also still allow gifts for my no buy categories. I track most categories of items and have a spreadsheet system that works for me.

PS: About the few 'relapses' where I purchased unnecessarily. These were mishaps and I know my buying behavior stems from emotions such as stress. I am working on battling this. It's so tempting to see new releases or stuff you don't have.

This is a journey of discipline and patience 🧘

Project Pan April Empties: 4

Such a slow and demotivating month. In March I had 14 empties, and now for April only 4.

I overused the Umberto products to even finish them since they genuinely seemed endless. They were gifted to me and did not work well for my hair type, but I felt bad about throwing them out. (No possibility of donating or re-gifting).

So I know they weren't 'true' pans but I don't care. I am happier no longer seeing them in my bathroom rotation products. Good riddance!

I don't overuse products usually, especially not if I like and / or love them. But if a product is gonna rot in my stock and then rot some more in my rotation because using it decently will take me a few extra months, I'd rather overuse a little bit each time than constantly think about disliking the product.

It was hard to admit this at first but I have decided to be open about it now. It was such a slow progress month and I'm sad I wasn't consistent with my other rotation products :(

Hopefully May is better. (Dont mind me posting this mid May.... Life got hectic).

PS: I did finish about 11 non-PP items which I don't track and just try to use up outside of my PP. (Think pads, medicine blisters, wipes, etc). So it wasn't a terrible month, but I still feel bummed about only using 4 'true' PP items.

Bummed about no PP start spread-out inventory picture

Hi! When I started my PP back in January 2026, I did take inventory of all my products and add them into a spreadsheet.

I also took a picture of my 'store', which was rows of products, mostly categorized, in my closet. Two square shaped shelves that are quite deep and the 'back' products not very visible in my picture. The rest of products, such as in rotation or bathroom items, have been kept where I use them most for convenience. So no proper PP-start picture.

I've made a big dent on my 'store' and some of the rotation products too. I have had about 50 empties so far (have yet to post April). I'm so proud to see the 2 shelves get lighter and the products more visible, and also to see the numbers on my spreadsheet decrease!

However, everytime I see someone who posts their inventory start where all the products are layed out on the floor or elsewhere, I get sad that I didn't do that when I started. I don't have such a visual and I feel like I'm not being a 'proper Project Panner' because I didn't take such a start pic. Though seeing the number on a spreadsheet still gave me the dramatic effect of 'why do i own all this'! I don't think a spread picture would've made any significant difference on my motivation and progress.

I know if I did take the pic though, it would've been huge. I have a lot of products, I started out my PP with 215 products of varying sizes and 'usage'. If this were all laid out, I'm sure I'd fill up my floor space in my room or bed if I did take it. But I feel so lost and regret not taking a first picture.

TLDR: I don't have a pic of all my PP-start products (215 items) laid out on the floor/bed to visualise the start and amount of products and I regret it. Now I am down to 180 ish products but it feels wrong to take such a pic when I'm already 5 months down the line. It makes me feel regret for not starting my PP 'the proper way', even though I know there's no handbook. I was still motivated for PP and the spreadsheet helped me visualise the numbers too, but I am bummed I don't have a proper starting pic of ALL my starting inventory.
