Living on the Outskirts of BKK

Living on the Outskirts of BKK

If anyone could help give some words advice here that would be much appreciated. I am US resident who’s attempting to move to Thailand long term . I have a girlfriend here who’s born and raised Thai (living in central BKK) , and have visited many times beforehand. I’ve been offered an interview for the year contract at said school (won’t mention for privacy purposes).

However I am having some real doubts about the lifestyle and how hard it might be for me to adjust. Not that I go out often, or care to be around other westerners😂 however I feel as though I am completely removing myself from the city feel / would be moving quite far from where my partner is. Also I am 192 Cm tall and stand out as a white guy lol.

Additionally I have heard horror stories of the flooding in the area being so bad that people are forced out of their homes etc. Money wise I’m more than fine and I have no problem “not getting paid” should class be canceled. Can someone tell me if I’m overthinking this or do I just man up and get a 35 min grab each morning and afternoon?

EDIT **** : The reason Im posting this in the first place is I only have 30 days left as I just extended my VISA. I applied to so many different posistion in thailand and this is one of the ones im actually hearing back from
