Quick review of my tinned herring lunch.
I've tried this brand in the past and it's decent for the price. This is the first time I've seen the hot tomato sauce variety. I toasted some rye, slathered on a little salted butter, added the fish and topped it with a few capers and some dill.
Thoughts on the tin: The sauce overpowered the flavor of the fish quite a bit. The sauce itself was tasty enough but there was no heat that I could detect. I am a bit "heat blind" because I eat super spicy food all the time. So it might have a little kick for those who don't eat spicy food all that often. I did wind up adding a little anchovy paste on top just to up the fish factor a bit lol. Not bad, not great. I'd give it a 5/10.
