The fall of YG’s princesses
Something I’ve been very curious about when it comes to bp is their interesting relationship with yg and their producer teddy. After their trainwreck reunion, one thing became clear as day to me and that is that YG as a company doesn’t see blackpink as a group that is really worth their time. which is crazy to me because bp was a very popular group. Their peers, twice and bts, who are figureheads at their respective companies command more respect from their label and are treated like valuable commodities. However, yg doesn’t seem to really gaf. It’s almost like they genuinely do not care if the girls stay or leave tbh. On the other hand, teddy their producer is who I expected to be a bit more proactive in keeping the group alive. He’s been their producer and bp outwardly seem to be close with him. I kinda thought he would gaf too but he really doesn’t seem to see them as anything more than a group he’s produced for. Idk why this seems kinda crazy to me. I’ve never followed bp closely but I do find their personas fascinating. Bp has been decorated by yg more than any other female act. When I compare his treatment of bp to 2ne1, it’s actually night and day. The high fashion ambassadorship, princess treatment, intentional solos and overall career support he gave them was not extended towards 2ne1. I remember clearly that while Minzy was in 2ne1, she asked for a solo and worked with teddy to create a song that represents her well. One of those songs was Gashina, however yg would not allow this girl to show her work to the world which frustrated and depressed her so much that she quit the group. That type of restriction never occurred to bp. To yg, 2ne1 were the ugly ducklings and bp, the swans. So how come yg has begun to treat bp, the brand, as an afterthought that he doesn’t care if they stay or leave? In fact I think that it’s Blackpink the idols who are actually holding on to their name more than the company. Does anyone else find this really weird?
Like even if the members themselves don’t gaf about their reunion, yg didn’t even like throw something together to extort the fans? Because it would work on them. They could have thrown together some old footage to get that nolstagia check, but they didn’t. I am actually gagged. It literally would have been so easy to do an unseen footage type of vlog from their past years and release some merch and yg still wasn’t interested in fan extortion?? Wow what’s going on
