Kamado Jigoku (かまど地獄)

Kamado Jigoku (かまど地獄)

EN
Kamado Jigoku (Beppu) is one of the famous "Hells of Beppu," a collection of geothermal hot springs that are meant for sightseeing rather than bathing - trust me on that.

When I visited Beppu this was hands down one of my favorite spots. It features colorful boiling pools, powerful steam vents, and experiences like geothermal cooking (they put the raw ingredients in some kind of well and they cook with the boiling water from Earth).

When it comes to Japan travel, less is more.

If you have 10 days in Japan, you probably don't need to visit Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Hakone, Hiroshima, and Mount Fuji.

I'd rather spend three days exploring one area than spend those same three days sitting on trains. I've met travelers who spent more time checking into hotels and hauling luggage through stations than actually enjoying the places they came to see.

A smaller itinerary almost always leads to a better trip. Japan rewards slow travel.
