Does Landry understand supply and demand?

So data centers are the current NIMBY hot topic. There are plenty of protests about them and some cities, parishes/counties and states making their construction illegal. It seems as though safe harborage for these facilities are at a premium.

Louisiana is welcoming them with open arms. One of the few. The demand is overwhelmingly there. Louisiana has some of the small supply.

Wouldn’t that give us enough leverage to make them pay their taxes like any of the thousands of small established businesses in the state instead of giving them $3.3 billion in tax incentives? If not having them pay their fair share, make them pay more for the energy and water demand they have.

It seems like Jeff learned “The Art of the Deal” from another failure of a businessman.

We have been storm fortunate, but we need ALL of our hurricane evacuation routes.

We dodged another bullet with Tropical Storm Bertha, but we have still seen ZERO action at ANY level of government to repair the Highway 90 Hurricane Evacuation Route!! There are now TWO bridges closed blocking a potential pathway to safety. This is an embarrassment for Louisiana and a slap in the face to the citizens of the South East part of the state.

Infrastructure Priorities for Louisiana

Here is a copy of the letter I sent to Governor Landry this morning regarding his interest in the Decatur Street Project in New Orleans. I get that he is a politician of retribution, but we really need reliable bridges in a coastal state with major rivers!

Good morning Governor Landry,

There has been a lot in the local media recently about your interest in the Decatur Street construction project in New Orleans.  I get your frustrations with the timeline of this project, however, there are other, far more important infrastructure projects whose timeline dwarfs the one with which you are concerned.

I am speaking specifically of the Pearl River Bridge on Highway 90.  This key piece of infrastructure, owned by the State of Louisiana, has been closed and barricaded for over FOUR YEARS!  As I am sure you are well aware, the Highway 90 Corridor is a Designated Hurricane Evacuation Route as well as favorite of weekend cruisers, cyclists, fishermen and sportsmen.

I believe your priorities have become misguided with your interest in the Decatur Street project.  This bridge as well as over 2,700 other bridges in Louisiana are in urgent need of repair.

I have already written to my local Representatives in both the State and Federal, House and Senate.  The only response I have received so far is the standard form letter thanking me for my interest.

The Pearl River Bridge Repair/Replacement Project is FAR overdue, so I am writing to you to see if you can make any difference.  Any movement on this is greatly appreciated, but given the response of other "leaders" my expectations are quite low.

Best regards,

Thad Davis

Sign the Petition

Please sign the petition to get the Pearl River Bridge on Highway 90 repaired or replaced. This is on one of our Hurricane Evacuation Routes and it has been closed for over four years.

Thank you in advance for helping restore this key piece of infrastructure.
