[S18 E5 & 6 Spoilers] The state of the game going into the finale and scenarios for who will win
Going into the final day the score is 7-9 with Badam in the lead.
Based on the remaining unseen trailer footage and wildcard draws at the end of episode 5, it's pretty much guaranteed Samy will try to claim Maine and Rhode Island while Badam will go for New Jersey with the Margaritaville wild card and South Carolina. This will still leave Sam and Amy behind by 2 if everything goes accordingly, meaning Badam pulls off the win with 11-9.
However, if they fail the margaritaville card and another New England state pops up at some point, or if Samy scoops the wild card first in Detroit (which Minneapolis has flights to in the morning) then it's likely to end in a tie in which Samy wins. Not really any scenarios where Samy can reasonably get ahead.
Important to note that there is trailer footage of Badam outside of the margaritaville location in Atlantic City, which could mean many things: Badam will fail it leaving it open for Samy, Samy already failed it leaving it open for Badam, or both teams are competing for it at the same time and it's neck and neck. It's also possible Samy didn't or couldn't have attempted to claim it at all due to other factors. Regardless of the scenario, the entire season pretty much comes down to this wild card. If Badam can successfully claim New Jersey then they will have a guaranteed 11, which Samy can't really match unless they're able to claim every remaining state in New England. If Samy can't claim Michigan then they will have to get lucky and pull another New England card at the right time.
As a bonus, none of this is even taking into account Badam's last private card which has yet to be revealed. If it's something like Connecticut and they're able to claim it it's game over as well.
How I think a Stateside Scramble type game could be played in Europe
If they were to do a Stateside Scramble type game across Europe, it would come with some problems but with a few tweaks I think it could work.
Right off the bat Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine would be excluded for obvious reasons.
With this we also need to consider the peninsular nature of Europe. A lot of countries are either dead ends, only border one other country, or are functionally islands from the main European landmass. A solution to this could be counting maritime borders, this would make the map more of a solid game board and open up a lot more options and flexibility, especially across areas like the Baltic Sea, North Sea, and Mediterranean. For countries like Portugal and Ireland, which only have one connection regardless, I have two solutions: splitting the UK into its 4 constituent countries for more options, and the introduction of North African wildcards, which would open up Portugal and more flexibility in the Mediterranean (excluding maybe Libya due to instability). Moldova and various microstates would still be excluded as they only border one other country, and overseas territories/British territories in Europe wouldn't count in terms of borders.
Geographically Europe also extends into parts of Turkey, Kazakhstan, and the Caucasus, but I think only Turkey would be included. Kazakhstan and the Caucasus are either only connected by Russia (not in play) or Turkey, which would make the country too valuable. Cyprus could be included as well due to its position on the board and its cultural ties to Europe.
All of this isn't taking any potential visa issues into account, so take it with a grain of salt, but I think this has a lot of potential and could be a great idea for a season if the boys want to try it. It could even work in a more limited sense with just the Schengen Area (Schengen Scramble) if you include maritime boundaries, though you'd probably have to make adjustments and add/remove a few countries.
What does this map represent? (A bit niche)
