Strike October 12th

Hello;

I will travel from Brussels airport on October 12th and am staying in central Brussels.

I learned there will be a strike planned that day which might affect public transport.

I an wondering where and when can I find more information about public transport to Airport (BRU) that day.

Also If there will be no public transport, what is the best and most reliable way to secure a Taxi as I assume there will be increased demand ( like prebooking)

Thanks ahead

Public transport reliablity

Hello,

I am a vistor spending few days in Toulouse. I have some appointments and some time for sightseeing.

I intended to use public transport around the city but yesterday had odd experiences.

I was riding a B metro in direction of university around 8:30 when suddenly the Train stopped in tunnel between Palais de Justice and St Michel Marcel Langer station. We remained stuck in the tunnel for around 10 minutes the the Train came to St Michel station and there was some message saying sth like “course terminee” and Everyone left the Train. I couldnt find anyone speaking english so I left the station too. As I was trying to figure out buses i noticed Tisséo employee and asked him for help and he said that metro is running again so i went back down but had to buy new ticket as my was declined.

Later around 14:30 I was travelling on Line A towards Arènes to continue by Tram 1 to my destination. At Esquirol station the Train stopped again and the announcement said sth like dix minutes which I believe meant 10 minutes. People mainly remained in the Train. After 10 minutes it Said dix minutes again so people started leaving. Ieft as well to take L4 bus to Palais de justice to transfer to tram as I could not risk additional delay.

At bus i pressed stop button when it was announced that Palais de justice is next station but the bus did not stop there although I was standing at the door and pressed stop button. I got out at next station and walked back to Palais do Justice to take tram but bought a new ticket as it was near 60 minutes since i validated first ticket so it would expire in the Middle of the ride and I couldnt explain in French What happened so not to have problems.

Was it a bad day Yesterday or metro failures are often that it is better to leave a large buffer space or use buses/taxi?

Hello

I was considering following itinerary for Sicily trip in first half of June this year

Day 1 - arrival to Palermo afternoon; evening walk and dinner

Day 2 - organized boat tour with transfer from Palermo to San Vito Lo Capo with evening in Palermo

Day 3 - Valley of Temples and Scala dei Turchi trip ( debating if better to go organized or self guided by public transport as guided tours leave only 3 hrs for temples and panoramic stop at Scala while I am okay with longer day and later return)

Day 4 - Palermo and Monreale

Day 5 - morning in Cefalu, afternoon Train to Catania (understand there is backtracking but still enough time)

Day 6 - Etna excurison and afternoon in Catania

Day 7 - day tour to Taromina or Siracuse ( maybe Siracuse is preference)

Day 8 - return in the morning

So it would be 4 nights in Palermo and 3 nights in Catania.

Catania would not get a Full day but rather 2 afternoons of few hours.

Now the modifications i was considering is

1- whether to take boat tour on day 2 or not ( main reason is panoramic sightseeing of Orientata dello Zingaro); If cutting it out I would cut one night in Palermo, add it to Catania and visited both Taromina and Siracuse on separate days

2 - If there would be possibility to store bag in Agrigento for half day; arrive from Palermo in the morning, see the temples and Scala dei Turchi, pick the bag and travel to Catania. I can’t find good connections towards Catania in the afternoon but this way it would be easier. I would then make Cefalu half day trip and got even more time in Palermo

3 - does Catania need a Full day? - it seems interesting but selected places seem even better; not sure If missing anything

4 - any other doable half or Full day trip from Palermo or Catania to add/replace something of the planned ( must be doable without car)

In general I am fine with longer days, walks and used to hot summer weather….

Thanks for replies
