What could befall a character was forced to expose themselves to normal air if they have NO FUNCTIONAL immune system?

Playing a space game.

Recently had my character forced to take her helmet off a spacesuit. The one she has medical clearance go wear anywhere outside of her quarters, because her immune system got fried by weird radiation. Something is preventing the creation of new T cells, and therapies have thus been unsuccessful. Effectively, she has no immune system. This character started out like this since session 0.

Was forced at gun point by the Captain who was under the effects of toxin that causes paranoia. Thought my character was a former enemy who did the whole, “steal the bad guy’s mook’s uniform to sneak inside his base.” Visor doesn’t retract, was playing up my character has to overstate her feelings because people can’t read them.

We are currently on hiatus due to the starting of the school year. In the meantime we’re encouraged to write journals recapping what happened over the (in game 1 month) week we’re not playing.

What sort of things might have medically happened to this character?

Star Trek 2e character backstory, does this sound too much like a main character or does it fit better in an “ensemble cast*”

*If the character was missing from an ep it wouldn’t destroy the episode.

“I come from a long line of starship designers on the New Kiel, Proxima Colony. I was on site when an anti-grav sled went out and landed right on top of a worker’s leg. Threw a splint on his leg and waited for EMS to show up. Ended up saving his life; I was told the bone would have gone through an artery if someone moved him before they showed up. Applied for Starfleet Medical the next week.

Back when I was an Ensign, I’d fly Admiral McCoy’s shuttles to and fro from conferences, starbases, and his residence. Some people say some of his personality rubbed off on me. Maybe they need to get their eyes checked, because I don’t see it. We both share a healthy fear of the transporters, though, mine’s justified.

Just as I got a second black pip, I was part of a response team when the Emergency Medical Transporter suffered a catastrophic failure. It was a miracle that Engineering managed to coopt every available byte of memory to keep the patterns stable. They worked around the clock trying to outpace the memory leak. The patient I was with didn’t make it out.”

Does this character make sense for a level one Harper?

“I grew up in Triboar, born to common laborers. I grew bored watching adventurers and caravans roll through there. So one day, I hopped onto the back of a wagon and sought to make something of my provincial life, with a sword on my belt and a song in my step. I didn’t go alone, though. I went with my childhood friend. We protected caravans, taught farmers how to turn their scythes into glaives, and I asked for little and less. My friend, he enriched himself through other means. Over the years my actions drew the eye of a larger group. Unknown to me, the Harpers had been watching my work for years. When their evaluation finally ended, they offered me a place among them. My friend and I were soon assigned to different missions, and we've rarely crossed paths since.”

Basic idea was this character was dragged down underground by a raiding party. Spent a decade down there. Escaped up when they believed they got their master killed. Is trying to learn how to people again.

I’m stuck between learning an instrument (and spending a proficiency in Performance) or a gaming set. Is there any games that Drow are known for playing (other than the obligatory, “torture the slaves game”)?
