Juwel Primo 70 2.0 any good?
Hello everyone!
My wife and I have decided to start our first aquarium for our son. We figured we'd start with a betta and maybe some other fish to start with. It's mostly for our son and we read bettas are pretty good fish for kids since they're more interactive. We also plan on doing live plants because I've read they make maintenance a bit easier on the tank.
Anyway, we went to our local aquarium store and when talking to the lady there, she tells us about the Juwel tanks and said it's like their premium option, is really popular in Germany and they just started selling them there in the states. We didn't feel pressured at all because she also went over what we'd need to DIY an aquarium and getting a different all in one tank. My wife liked the look of the Juwel and we went with the Primo 70 since it was an 18 gallon tank. It ended up costing a little more than $610 after tax. We were also looking at a Fluval Spec 16-gallon one but after adding the heater, the price would have ended up being about the same as the Juwel (not counting the Juwel stand).
I can't find a whole lot of information about these other than the lights kinda suck for demanding plants and something about the position of the filter box possibly being a hassle for some smaller fish. Has anyone used these tanks before? Are they any good? Would we be better off going with a different option? As I said before this tank is mostly for a betta, some other fish that get along with bettas (haven't decided what yet just that we want multiple fish) and some live plants.
