Can anyone please help with recommending business insurance providers for a small CIC needing public liability, product liability and professional indemnity?

Recommendations of business insurance EDIT:

  1. The one insurer I have contacted so far was Markel UK who said they could not insure me
  2. I was hopeful for any personal recommendations, in terms of good pricing, positive experience with the company or even bad experiences and companies to avoid.
  3. I have Googled. A lot. And there's a lot of companies. So I was keen to hear from any other small business owners or CICs that can make a recommendation.

Hi everyone,

I own a small CIC whereby I'm the founder, director and only active "staff member". It's not for profit.

I am looking for business insurance that includes public liability, product liability and professional indemnity.

The business model is that I rescue unwanted, broken and fly-tipped children's toys. Toys are separated into two streams:

  1. Toys that need work are fully refurbished and given away for free to local schools, children's groups and low income families (this is the charitable arm of the business). So saving them from landfill and into the arms of those in need.

  2. Toys that are great condition will be fully inspected, cleaned and then sold at affordable prices. The money from sales is used to fund spare parts for broken toys, costs of 3D printing, tools, batteries, cleaning products and other running costs of business.

I did speak to one insurer already who said that they couldn't insure me but during the conversation recommended that I seek product liability, public liability and professional indemnity insurance.

Hope that's enough information.

I really appreciate any support and advice!

Thank you 😊
