I think my dog has separation anxiety and my neighbor has complained but idk what to do anymore
Hi guys I have a pitbull rescue who is 3 years old and I’ve had her for a month. She is the sweetest girl and very well behaved in the house. Outside she used to walk politely on the leash but now she’s become an adventurer which shows me she’s opening up.
My husband and I work a full time job but we’re hybrid some days. If either of us are wfh she’s out the crate, but whenever we put her in the crate to leave, she just barks and cries so loudly. I can hear it down the hall of my apartment complex.
After a while she stopped barking immediately when we leave, but my camera alerts me to noise and she’ll be barking/crying very loudly after an hour we’ve left and she’ll do it on and off 5 minutes at a time and then start again like 30-60 minutes later.
I take her on walks before she’s crated and make sure she’s used the bathroom, I put food and water in her crate, she has a beef hoof, all her favorite stuffed animals, a bed, and a sniff toy full of high value treats. Oh and a kong and a lick pad. We even have the adaptil (or however it’s spelled) wall plug in right by her crate. We’ve also practiced letting her in and out the crate and we step out the door. If I’m going to the mailroom in my apartment complex or leasing office, I’ve started leaving her outside the crate but she still just cries so loudly.
But she just howls and cries and barks. My downstairs neighbor has complained and idk what to.
My husband and I are also both runners and we have a really early race this weekend with a start time of 6:50 a.m. so we’re going to be gone pretty early and I’m worried she’s gonna be barking and was my neighbors up and they’ll complain again.
Is there anything we can do??
