A few days in Quetico this fall

Just got back from my first fall camping trip at Quetico, and I absolutely loved it. We spent 3 nights at the Winter Retreat Art Studio and 3 nights at Ojibwe Cabin. The weather was so nice one day that we even went swimming.

The upper beach area gets lots of sun, and the water felt surprisingly warm, shallow, and sandy. It’s also one of my favorite spots for sunset.

There’s a little surprise library in the basement of the park office! I’ve been to Quetico several times and somehow never knew it existed.

In the fall, the office closes around 4:30 on weekdays, so arrive before then for check-in or at least call ahead so they know you’re coming.

Both cabins were very well equipped: microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker, kettle, electric stove, drinking water, and BBQ with plenty of propane. Ojibwe also had a toaster.

You can park right beside Ojibwe Cabin, but the Art Studio requires walking down a trail, so keep that in mind if you’re bringing a lot of stuff. Both have direct access to the water.

Ojibwe was more comfortable and a little roomier, but the Art Studio wins for location and atmosphere. It’s also great with kids because you can walk to the playground and the nearby beaches.

Posting some photos because fall at Quetico was beautiful. Happy to answer anything about either cabin!
