Best cruise for elderly parent

My father in law is 90, limited mobility and dealing with the typical afflictions of a nonagenarian. But he loves cruises and he's been relentlessly asking to go on another one (its been a few years - that cruise was to alaska and did not go well). His wife has no interest in going. We have agreed to take him along with another sibling/spouse. Now we just have to figure out what to do. What boat/cruise line do you recommend? They live in the mid atlantic area - maybe NJ to Bermuda to limit the ports? But then I'm worried about how much he could do off the boat. Are there itineraries where there is a lot to see from the boat? That was the hope with Alaska but it rained the whole time and he was sick in his room for much of it. ALso are we insane??!! I feel so badly, he just wants a trip to look forward to.
