Beginner-friendly weightlifting classes/gyms?

I’m looking to start exercising consistently and would really like to find a gym that offers beginner-friendly weightlifting/strength training classes.

I’m pretty new to lifting, so I’m looking for something where they actually teach proper form and programming rather than just throwing you into a high-intensity group workout and hoping for the best lol.

I’ve looked at life time fitness and their strengths class, but I’m not entirely sold yet, especially on the price.

Does anyone have recommendations around, good for new goers?

How hard is it to get onto an NFPA technical committee?

Ever since I started working in fire protection, one of my long-term goals has been to join an NFPA technical committee. I think it would be a genuinely interesting way to get more involved in the industry outside of my normal project work.

There’s a specific committee I’m interested in applying for, but I’m a little worried that I may not have enough experience yet. I currently have two years of fire protection experience, and my California PE application is pending (should come in 1-2 months).

For anyone who has applied or served on a committee, how competitive/difficult is the process? Would it be worth applying now, or would I be better off waiting until I have a few more years of experience?
