Final Walk-Through w/Owner’s Stuff In House?

Not sure if this is the right place to put this but I am selling a house and buying/moving into another house. The closings are happening on the same day. We have been told by our agent that our home needs to be completely cleared out of our stuff and cleaned before our buyer does their final walk-through.

I have movers coming the day before, and will be out of our house a couple hours before that walk-through happens.

I just found out that our sellers won’t have their belongings moved out in time for our final walk-through and agent has told us that this is really our only option.

Besides feeling flustered by the double-standard, I am also concerned that this puts us in a bad position. What if damage occurs when things are moved out? What if they take appliances?

I don’t know of anyone who has been put into this position before.

Any thoughts? Is this common? Am I being too cautious?

EDIT: Thank you to everyone’s thoughts and shared experiences. we discussed with our lawyer who advised ABSOLUTELY NOT. We had a group conversation with our real estate agent and came up with alternative plan.

I guess it’s been a lesson to weigh in on the thoughts of everyone on your team before making a decision.

Disheartened to discover this place closed a few years ago… Any word on if there’s intention to re-open? or why it closed? Just no interest?

Perhaps local museums or historical societies that offer volunteer work related to art preservation?

I’ve seen a few volunteer opportunities more so related to gift shops or tours… Seeking more of a hands-on educational experience.

Educational background includes art history.
