In retrospect, this was the beginning of the end
At the time, I admit, I was caught up in this hype. The idea that we the people could impact real change and adjust the booking was, to put it bluntly, intoxicating. But just look at who these fans wanted to push:
Dnaiel Bryan - who ended up being a traitor and badmouths WWE constantly now
Dolph Ziggler - he's fine (we still work with TNA, right?) but he's nothing compared to so many other big talents (Seth, Roman, etc)
Dean Ambrose via the SHIELD - he's fucking awful, both as a performer and as a person. And the idea that I EVER gave him respect honestly makes me fucking sick to my stomach.
Granted, it does show love to Taker and Punk, and they're both greats who have proven time and again to deserve it. But the disrespect for Orton, HHH, and Steph is fucking slanderous. Like.. where did they think the shows came from? A magic box or something?
In short - I think this flyer is where fans got this idea that wrestling should cater to them. It birthed this entitled fanbase that then led to AEW's nightmarish creation. And it's that same entitlement that makes people boo a fun Danhausen concert instead of sitting there and being GRATEFUL for the HOURS of free television we are gifted each week. So I'm gonna end this with one simple sentence:
THANK YOU WWE.
