Scammer callout + WTB key for 007 First Light
Hello,
This post is part-warning, part-“WTB a key for 007 First Light”.
A little bit of a backstory:
I became a dad this year and haven’t exactly been able to game a lot since then. However, whenever I booted up my PC I kept seeing an Nvidia pop-up about the “Daring Elite” outfit being advertised as in-game content that could be claimed for 007 First Light.
As I didn’t have enough time on my hands to play the game at the moment, I didn’t buy it and missed out on the outfit as well.
Meanwhile, I now have my summer vacation and, therefore, a little more time to play games — even though the baby is, of course, still a factor.
However, having missed out on the Daring Elite outfit actually had me gutted, and I contacted both IO Interactive and Nvidia in the hope of getting a code for the outfit, which would then undoubtedly make me buy the game. Unfortunately, no luck.
I then stumbled upon a post on this Subreddit, which brings us to the main part of the post:
I saw the user u/phatpssdestroyer had made a post about wanting to sell a 007 First Light code for $10 as he had gotten the game for free with his 5080 graphics card and wasn’t interested in playing it.
The original post has now been deleted, but I’ve added a screenshot of it for reference.
I contacted him asking if he had both a code for the Daring Elite outfit and a code (EU Steam key) for the game itself, which he told me he did.
However, even though his post mentioned him wanting to sell the game code for $10, he now wanted 10£ — in Steam gift cards bought on Eneba.
I told him I preferred a trade where he would send me the code(s) first, and I’d send him the gift card afterwards, seeing as I felt I had more to lose than he did.
He didn’t trust me and didn’t want to do the trade that way. I didn’t trust him enough to send him the gift card first, either, so we had to find some sort of common ground in order to do the trade in a two-way satisfactory manner.
I suggested we do the trade through a 3rd party platform, but he said that was a “hassle ngl”.
I then suggested he could send me the outfit code first, then I’d send the 10£ gift card, and then he could send me the code for the actual game.
He then suggested I could just send him half — a 5£ gift card — first, then he’d send me both codes, and then I could send him another 5£ gift card (see screenshot).
I agreed and sent him the first 5£ gift card.
He then broke the agreement and said “I’ll jus need another 5 before I send the code sorry” (see screenshot).
As that was definitely not going to happen after he ‘broke my trust’, I called him out on being a scammer, which he insisted he wasn’t. Seeing as he didn’t live up to the agreement, has now deleted his post and blocked me, I would argue it’s safe to say that he’s definitely a scammer — no matter how sorry it seems to scam someone for a silly amount of 5£.
All of that, however, doesn’t exactly help me out of this situation.
I’m now reaching out to you in hopes of getting ahold of someone that can sell me a cheap(-ish) code for the game and — hopefully — a code for the Daring Elite outfit.
I’m sorry for the long novel, and I pray for the community to help me out on this one.
Thanks in advance.
TL;DR: u/phatpssdestroyer is a scammer, and, therefore, I still need an EU Steam key for 007 First Light and the Daring Elite outfit (if possible).
