All around Jobcorps questions tailored specifically to my situation.
Im 19F, The first time I heard about Job Corps was during its shutdown; it's back up, and I'm preparing to go to my interview. I've personally heard a lot of mixed opinions and experiences. My only worry is the quality of the job programs offered and regarding mental health medication. I'm on two separate prescriptions, one being a mood stabilizer and an antidepressant. I've heard accounts that getting the necessary medicine for whatever your needs are can be difficult. I want to know more about that process and what to expect because I recognize that every situation and location is different, and admissions might not fully prepare you for what the experience you receive will be. This is personally very important to me because I genuinely have to be on these medications for my health and wellbeing.
Another question I have is about the quality of the trades programs. Post-Job Corps, do employers discriminate based on where exactly you got your certifications, and if being certified at Job Corps can affect the hiring process? Also, is there anywhere I can see the long-term annual salary outcome for those certified at Job Corps besides on the Job Corps website? (I know that websites typically try to paint themselves in the best light without telling the whole truth).
One final question I have is about the environment. I understand it won't be a walk in the park or a summer camp, and I'm not afraid of any physical violence because I am quite big for a girl (5'7 and 140). But I am sensitive in certain ways regarding bullying and other things like that; I just want to be fully prepared and know what to expect beyond the promotional videos.
Also, a personal and kinda stupid question I have is: do they have libraries or anywhere I can read? I rlly love to read. Also, do they have gyms? I love to work out too. Not trying to be pretentious or overly afraid Im just a bit nervous. I havent stayed at a place other than my home for maybe more than two days at a time so.
