As much as I love Elliott Smith and would love for people to actually know who he is when I tell them he’s my favourite artist, I genuinely fear his music becoming really popular on tiktok. If he was alive today then obviously I would hope for him to have an ever bigger career but as he is sadly not I feel like his music needs to guarded at all costs from being tiktokifyed, where people just use his music without really knowing anything and take it at surface level. This may sound very much like i’m a gatekeeper which I lowkey am but if I was to see ‘Say Yes’ on a spotify ‘tiktok 2026’ playlist I would freak. Anyway what are yalls thoughts?
