As promised: zooming out to 1 million blocks, same seed, same spot in Beta 1.7.3, 1.6, 1.12 and 26.3

Seed: -9024439081351941263 (Java)

On my previous post here someone asked me to do the same video for older world generation (for the "real oceans"). So here's the same seed in four versions at once, all centered on 0, 0

  • Beta 1.7.3 (2011): tiny biomes everywhere
  • 1.6 (2013): big biomes and a LOT of ocean
  • 1.12 (2017): the origin is in a open ocean, with a mushroom island not far away
  • 26.3 (2026): today's terrain

Even at a million blocks wide they still look different, which I did not expect

I kept zooming out from one village until the map was over 2 million blocks wide. Still only 0.15% of a Minecraft world

Seed: 1137312592097531 (Bedrock 26.50)

The last frame is about 2 million blocks across and 2.6 million top to bottom. Minecraft worlds extend up to 30 million blocks out from the center in every direction, so all of that is still only about 0.15% of one. Numbers that don't make sense to my little human mind.

Zoomed out that far, you get some trippy optical illusions. On my screen it looks like it's still moving after the video ends, though Reddit's compression might kill that effect.
