Genuinely wondering if manners in South Africa just aren't a thing anymore... like sjoe guys...
So I've been working at a biltong shop for about a year and a half now and was working as a waitress for a bit before that and I could count the amount of people who have said the word 'please' to me when ordering on both hands... And some don't even greet they just go in straight with "R20 this, and R50 that" etc...
I don't know but I was taught by my parents and schools (primary, secondary and in the tertiary hostel system) to greet people before speaking to them about anything else and to say 'please' when asking someone to do something for me and 'Thank you' after... and ngl it makes my genuinely uninterested in serving you if you don't. 🤷🏻♀️
Are the words 'Hello', 'Please' and 'Thank You' no longer in our vocabulary or what? What is going on?
