AJ Dybantsa - 23 PTS 7 REB 2 AST 3 STL 2 BLK

He impacts the game in so many different ways. Once he adjusts to the NBA 3pt line, he can inevitably become one of the best in the world.

Tre vs DP

I’ve seen a lot of posts comparing AJ and DP, or Ace and AJ, but another perspective worth looking at is Tre vs DP.

The two of them as college prospects are pretty similar from a statistical perspective.

Tre Johnson:

Points - 19.9

Splits - 43/40/87

Volume - 16/7/4

Rebounds - 3.1

Assists - 2.7

TOV - 1.8

Darryn Peterson:

Points - 20.2

Splits - 44/38/82

Volume - 15/7/6

Rebounds 4.2

Assists - 1.6

TOV - 1.6

Both their volume and efficiency were pretty similar, with the Tre shooting 1 more shot per game and DP take 2 more FTs per game.

Although Darryn has been labeled as a PG by himself and others, throughout the college season he didn’t show an ability to use his scoring threat/gravity to create for others at a level you would expect from someone who would be a lead guard at the NBA level. The most assists DP had in a game this year was 4, which he tied 3 times. Tre at Texas tied for 4 assists 11 times, and had 6 assists at most in a game.

The one thing they may differ on is their 2P%. DP was injured through the season and his driving/finishing ability likely took a hit. To still compare the two players, DP took 8 2PA and converted 48%, while Tre at Texas took 9 and converted 45%.

On another note, I think AJ will end up being better than Ace long term.

I imagine we’ll get similar productivity from Tre as DP and AJ is probably better than Ace, it really doesn’t make sense to trade down right?
