Questions about my new used wheel!

I just bought a used Ashford Traditional Double Drive wheel (with bonus goodies like the chair, double treadle, jumbo flyer, hand carders, and some spindles!). I've only spun on an EEW 6.0, so it's all new to me so I apologize if I'm not using the correct terms!

It came with the jumbo flyer and bobbin installed, but included the regular bobbins and flyer. When I tried to switch it to the regular one, it's quite loose near the front maiden support hole. I was looking around online, is it missing the black ring to make the hole smaller from the Ashford Jumbo Flyer Bearing Reducer Bushing set?

Also as a new to double drive person, what's the best way to take off the flyer or bobbins without having to re-do the drive band every time? I feel like whenever I move it off the strings obviously have slack and so are very prone to falling off and I'm never quite sure how to put them back on without starting from scratch (followed a JillianEve tutorial on how to do it the first time)

Lastly, if I'm ordering a reducer set, would it be worth it to get the springs as well to use the wheel single drive?

ETA: it's a 2017 if that makes any difference, the previous owner (didn't get to meet her, she's unfortunately in a senior home so a friend was selling for her) kept all the manuals and things printed out and sorted into a binder! She seems very organized and neat!

KFO Soft Silk Mohair

Knitting for Olive Soft Silk Mohair: 70% mohair, 30% silk 225 m/25 g each. Prices include shipping CONUS, $5 discount if you buy both, shipping has gotten expensive! 😄

2 x unicorn purple $28

5 x ice blue $60 SOLD

Smoke and pet free house, stored in plastic shoeboxes and/or a cotton zipped bag.

Bought these last year after de minimis exemption ended unfortunately, so been holding onto them in hopes of using it myself. But the ice blue is cooler toned than I expected from the pictures and I have extra unicorn purple so I would like to replenish my hobby budget a bit for some colorwork patterns I've been eyeing!

Hello! I'm going to be in New Zealand and Australia at the end of the year, specifically Queenstown, Wanaka, and Te Anau in New Zealand and Sydney in Australia.

Does anyone have any yarn or fiber stop recommendations? We'll have a car in New Zealand but will be relying on public transportation in Sydney.

Also, I've been looking for wheels on FB marketplace and other ads near me but haven't had any luck, are wheels from Ashford cheaper to buy new over there rather than the US?

I know it's still quite far away but looking to get feedback on a weeklong trip my partner and I are making at the end of Nov/early Dec before heading to Sydney for a wedding. We'll be flying in and out of Queenstown airport and staying at 3 AirBnBs (camper van rentals seem expensive since it's the beginning of peak summer season). Based on my research I'd like to keep things more minimally scheduled to allow for stopping by whatever interests us, but I also want to see stuff and not wander around pointlessly for all 8 days :)

Main areas of uncertainty/questions, but very open to feedback on the entire itinerary:

  1. How difficult is Roy's Peak Track? I've seen lots of people recommend it, but neither of us are avid hikers. Seems like some people say it's easy, others say it's hard, everyone says it's UPHILL 😂 If it's worth it though... we've got lots of time to train and I'd be willing to attempt it. Otherwise is Rob Roy Glacier Track a good easier hike alternative? We're not opposed to hour long drives to places coming from Southern California, so don't mind making the drive to that starting point.
  2. Is Lake Tekapo worth making a day trip to from Wanaka? Seems like mixed reviews of value. I'd like to see the lupines since purple is my favorite color, but understandably seems like a controversial plant and might have been more eradicated? Looks like a 5 hour round trip ride and we're already going to be driving to Milford sound so adding more hours in the car is less than ideal if there's nothing that stands out about Lake Tekapo compared to our other stops.
  3. Bike rental recs for Wanaka -- I haven't ridden a bike in years and don't know if we need full suspension or e-bikes, which companies are good, and if we even need to book ahead of time (I do realize we're going when it'll probably be busy so ready to book ahead)
  4. Is there anything else that was an absolute WOW must do that we don't have planned (not including thrill things, I'm a scaredy-cat and don't want to bungee jump, sky dive, or thrill ride jet boat)
Sleeping location/days Plans
Wanaka day 1 (arrive noon) get groceries, drive to Wanaka (1 hr), rest up
Wanaka day 2 kayak at Wanaka OR day trip to Lake Tekapo
Wanaka day 3 Roy's Peak or Rob Roy Glacier Tracks
Wanaka/Te Anau day 1 morning bike tour in Wanaka, afternoon drive to Te Anau (5 hrs)
Te Anau day 2 explore around Milford Sound - boat tour or trails?
Te Anau/Queenstown day 1 morning drive to Queenstown (5 hrs), afternoon/evening Skyline gondola/luge
Queenstown day 2 Glenorchy & Bob's cove
Queenstown day 3 (fly out afternoon) last bits of exploration/relax

Cheers!
