[Self]First paint layer on my handmade grimoire. Thoughts?

First paint layer on my handmade grimoire. Thoughts?

Still a work in progress, but I’m trying to make this feel like an old cursed book with a hand trapped inside. I just finished the first paint layer and I’m planning to add more texture and an aged pale skin effect to the hand. Any feedback before I continue?

Body:

I’ve been working on creating a dark, aged grimoire aesthetic using layered textures and dry brushing techniques.

I also sculpted a small mandrake directly onto the surface to make it feel like it’s growing out of the book.

This is still a test piece, but I’d love to hear your thoughts or suggestions.

Trying to create a realistic “old grimoire” texture — feedback appreciated

Body:

This is my first attempt at making a handmade grimoire-style notebook.

I’m still learning how to control contrast and highlights, so I’d really appreciate any critique or tips.
