Mcgivered Water Line

I just purchased a home with an older 2016ish GE profile fridge. The fridge uses a GE MWF filter but had a diverter installed I place of the filter.

I noticed the water still ran with the diverter removed and noticed that the water line was being manually routed through a different filter taped to the back of the fridge.

Why would someone do this and should I just reroute the water line back through the normal water filter?

Retaining wall issue?

I just purchased a house with a retaining wall and dirt keeps seeping out of the weep holes

Is this something that I should be worried about or a sign of a structural issue in the retaining wall? Is there something I should do other than just sweep away the dirt periodically?

Retaining wall problem?

Just purchased a house with a retaining wall in the back. The weep holes are completely filled with dirt and there is a bit of moss growing on some of the stone.

Are these issues any cause for concern? Should I just scrub the dirt out of the weep holes?

Nail Holes Question

I just refinished my red oak hardwood floors using porcelain stain and satin oil poly. The plans are all nailed down and do not have a tongue and groove.

After refinishing, the nail holes appear to have a white coloring inside of them. What is this white coloring and should the contractor have corrected this somehow?

Are these floors okay?

Contractor just refinished my floors, but it looks like I can see some of the tops of the nails exposed. Were these floors sanded too far down/ not have enough wood left to have been refinished? Thanks for the help!

Is My Contractor Shortcutting the Job?

I hired a contractor to refinish red oak hardwood floors using one coat of alcohol based sealant and 2 coats of Fabulon oil based poly with a satin finish. I has assumed that he would wait a day between the coats of poly.

My contractor now told me that he was able to apply all 3 coats in one day. He applied the sealant at 6:50am with a 45 minute dry time, first coat of poly at 8:30am and 2nd coat of poly at 4:30pm.

He said the moisture levels in the hardwood were 8% before the 2nd coat and it was okay to apply the 2nd coat. I am reading online that it’s standard practice to let oil poly dry over night between coats.

Is my contractor taking a shortcut or is this acceptable practice?

Anything to be concerned with?

I just put in an offer for a house that’s built on top of a small, but somewhat steep hill. The house is on the top of the hill and the grade is level starting at the front of the foundation and everything behind it.

The house is from 1960 so has been around a while and no foundation issues were discovered during inspection. Is there anything here to worry about with the hill?
