Newb question. I want to stream music, but only independent music in hopes to get more people listening.

Basically that. I’ve always wanted to have a internet radio show, because I love finding artists that are new, independent, and niche, and I always want a way to suggest people listen to them. I’m an inactive musician who just loves finding new sounds all the time.

How would something like that work on Twitch? Can it work?

I never thought I'd be able to learn another language this late in life, but Duolingo got me further than I ever thought.

When my wife and I started planning early for a 2022 trip to Italy, I started using Duolingo heavily. It was like a morning and evening workout routine, where I'd sometimes finish a unit every two days.

I figured out tricks to make it a little more real-world, like using the little blue microphone to dictate any time an exercise wanted me to translate English to Italian. This forces you to translate in your head straight to your mouth, which is honestly the hardest part of learning a language.

Also, in those days, the notepad link at the top of each unit had little mini lessons in them. Unfortunately, now they're mostly examples with no context. But still helpful. I always did as many Match Madness exercises as I could, because it was like a brain workout. And now, the flashcard portion of the app is one of my favorite things (even if it's a tad hard to find and doesn't require the articles even if it asks for it). I always tell people, translating out loud is what helped me the most, and the flash cards force you to do that.

After about 7 months of Duolingo, we went to Italy. Sure, a lot of people there spoke English. But two of the places we went to (Bolognia & Bergamo) weren't so quick to do so. I was able to get bus tickets to get around Bolognia from a convenience store (that's where you buy 'em, oddly) and get us around the city. In Bergamo, I helped my wife shop for things that were behind a counter, i.e. "possiamo vedere la borsa nera?" That kinda stuff.

I have begun to use other things, because you can't learn everything from one source. I haven't had the Italian update yet, either, so I'm eager to move beyond A2. I WILL say, that my first step into other avenues of learning Italian, was a private tutor who speaks very limited English. He has been absolutely shocked at how much I already know, and can't believe it's all just from Duolingo.

There's something about the repetition that doesn't feel like repetition. It's hard to find that in any other resource for language learning.
