UPS Tower Compatibility

Hey yall. My system consists of a UNVR with a bunch of G6 cameras, I bought the UPS Tower to protect against short power outages (rare, but i also needed more outlet space so it made sense to buy it).

Only thing is i'm not sure it can communicate with the UNVR without another device like a gateway. I have the UPS and the UNVR connected to the same switch, but i can't adopt it so i assume that since it won't adopt it also won't gracefully shutdown the UNVR when it's on battery. Am i doing something wrong or does the UPS need a gateway device for it to do the graceful shutdown?

Update: Was told in the replies about UniFi OS self hosting so I don't need to purchase any network-enabled devices I won't need outside of adopting the UPS. surprisingly, self hosting is supported on macOS so I'll be installing it onto our Mac on site and go from there!!

Add your kid as an authorized user!!!

I'm 19 years old now, and I just wanna tell parents how beneficial it will be for your kids if you add them to your credit card as an authorized user.

My mom added me to her Apple Card as an AU when I was 13. She rarely used the Apple Card, rather allowing it to be a card that I would have in case of emergencies/when I needed to buy something, and she's not there, like at a summer camp. She used it to teach me how to spend wisely, but you don't actually need to give your kid the card and have them use it for this to benefit them.

Fast forward 5 years, she kept the card in good standing, made payments on time, and now I'm 18. A month after my 18th, I was able to get a $500 Discover Student regular CC, then a $500 Capital One Platinum card. 4 months later, I was approved for a $2000 Capital One Savor card, then 4 months after that, I got approved for a $1500 Apple Card. A few months later, my credit line for the Apple card went up to $3000, and I got approved for a $3250 Amazon Prime Chase card. All before my 19th birthday.

After my 19th we needed a car, my mom wanted me to be on the loan since i'd add some history, and that she would be helping me pay for it because we'd both be driving it equally. she has more income than me and we settled on a new Lincoln, ran the credit checks and to our surprise I had a score of 720, funnily enough that was higher than her score. The loan was for about $70k, and I was made the main loan holder, AND the dealer approved us for 0.00% APR on the loan, so we pay NO INTEREST!!!

Looking back, did I need those cards? No, I probably shouldn't have opened so many credit cards in such a short amount of time. But it just goes to show how beneficial it was for me that I was added as an authorized user on one of my mom's credit cards. It's pretty easy to do, doesn't hurt your own credit score, and you don't actually need your child to spend any money on the card if you don't want them to. You can add them as an authorized user as soon as you can (I think most issuers require the kid to be at least 13, though) and leave it like that so when they turn 18, they have a pretty good foundation to build their credit upon.

Hard Drive Sourcing for UNVR

I've been in the process of upgrading the surveillance system at gas station I own to UniFi cameras, and we just got to the final stages of purchasing everything when I realized just how much HDDs have increased in prices since i last checked. I was looking at either 3 WD Purple Pro 14TB drives or 3 Seagate Skyhawk AI 16TB, preferring the Seagate but will get whatever is cheapest. Does anyone know of online stores that might have these drives and are being sold cheaper than the equivalent drive from UniFi itself?

[IOS 27 DB1] SiriAI's Ability to End Convos

Was testing the new Siri's limits and restrictions, and tried to push it to identify and talk about an nsfw picture i had on my screen in an attempt to see if it'll have convos about NSFW things and if I could cause it to break its restrictions. Turns out that if you push hard enough, Siri will realize and literally said "I am ending this conversation" and stops you from replying to that thread and that convo isn't in the app. pretty interesting, i haven't seen any AI straight up end the convo before.

Just took delivery of a new Nautilus, and thought about getting the comma 4 for it. didn't look at the supported car list, so didn't realize this wasn't on there. I did see that the 2020-24 Aviator is supported. My Nautilus has Lincoln (Ford) Co-Pilot 360 Drive 2.0, so it should be possible to get a comma 4 working eventually. Has anyone had success bringing functionality to a 2024 or newer Nautilus?
Anothe question, how likely would it be that the 2026 Nautilus will be officially supported in the next 4 years? The car comes with Co-Pilot 360 free for 4 years and I'm good using that If I can't use openpilot on the Comma.

Edit: Accidentally said it has Co-pIlot 360 plus, the vehicle actually has Co-Pilot360 Drive 2.0 (BlueCruise is on this car)
