Playing to vehicle stereo gives "There was a problem playing music. Check that your TV is plugged in and on the same WiFi as your HomePod."
I'm at my wits end with this one.....
I have tried Google, and tried Apple Support and can't find this...
I have a 2022 Toyota. I have an iPhone 16 running iOS 27.0.1. ALL of my music is bought through iTunes and downloaded to my phone and I do not own a HomePod, nor have i ever connected the phone to anything aside from my vehicles and my bluetooth speakers.
As best I can figure, since getting iOS 27 I can no longer play music via Siri - e.g. "Hey Siri, play Nathaniel Rateliff on shuffle".
Immediately Siri says "Now playing Nathaniel Rateliff on shuffle....There was a problem playing music. Check that your TV is plugged in and on the same WiFi as your HomePod." When I look on the control centre, it shows bluetooth connected to my vehicle like it should.
I can still play music over the stereo but only if I physically select something..
Thinking it would be quickest, I just wiped my phone (I was having issues with the phone not scrolling as well, so 2 birds, 1 stone kinda thing). Fool!
I have hard reset my vehicles audio system and updated it as well.
Tried pairing my phone to the truck - pairing is fine. Tapping a song on the screen is no issue at all.
Asking Siri to play any music/artist > immediately I get that error!
Renamed my device, re-paired it - same error.
Reset all network settings on my phone - same error.
Reset ALL settings on. my phone - same error.
Wiped phone to factory & ran all available updates - SAME ERROR!!!
I have confirmed in both my Siri settings, and in Cellular settings that there everything is turned on.
I tried this in my other vehicle using a generic bluetooth audio adapter (since it's an older vehicle) - same error, so I know it's not the vehicle.
I commute for about 1.5 hours a day and I'm losing my "first world problem having" mind. The only *possible* fix I can come up with is to downgrade it to iOS 26.X from an old phone backup I have or buy a new phone (which it's own problem).
Anyone have any other suggestions?
