Five BIG learnings from the All Whites semi-final win vs 44th ranked Panama.

Five BIG learnings from the All Whites semi-final win vs 44th ranked Panama.

  1. Stamenić has become the beating heart in the middle of the pitch. With more potential talent to breakthrough in the CDM 6 department, he's the first name on the team sheet. Parker-Price in Sweden and the prospect of Dibley-Dias and Leuluai could bring more artistry as a partner than the equally physical and disrupter Champions League Joe Bell.

  2. Club level, minutes and form aren't everything, but especially on the season before a world cup become really important. Although Waine did incredibly well with little game time and Wood has been surviving on scraps, it's no surprise that Paulsen, Stamenić, Just & Bindon were a big part of the game.

  3. The A League is ranked lower, as are some obscure Asian leagues. But the team culture and trust from the manager allows those playing at "lower" club levels to step up and contribute on merit as equals. Dyer, Ingham, Wilkins, Bayliss... there's a lot of depth from years ago and also emerging talent.

  4. Post-Wood we will be more mobile. He's world class at what he does, which is largely in a very narrow bandwidth of the field. When off, and with the properties of our other attacking players, we become far more fluid and dynamic as a front 3/4.

  5. Continued investment in the games programme is essential. This is now our second calendar year of a full games programme with probably more than half against top 50 teams. Confidence and cohesion developed makes it seem more comfortable and normal already, and hopefully through the full four year period this is the new normal.

Marko Stamenić is in great flow with Swansea City.

That passing percentage is outrageous.

Best performance (Sofascore) since Feb.

5th equal best ever.

With so many moves in his career at a young age, it might be he comes to really enjoy the environment and the possibility of Premier League promotion.

Nik Tsanev to add but he's not in the matchday squad for Huddersfield. Jack Perniskie with MK Dons U21s too.

The numbers and quality/level are increasing so much the last few years. Potential talent base for 2030 could be slot stronger again.

BREAKING RUMOUR | Callum McCowatt excluded from matchday squad vs FC Midtjylland.

UPDATE | Reportedly a medical Tueaday morning NZT for fellow Danish side AGF, who currently sit in 10th, one point behind Silkeborg 🤯. 13 million croner reported is pprox £1m GBP.

https://www.tipsbladet.dk/nyhed/superliga/afsloering-bombe-agf-koeber-callum-mccowatt

With no apparent injury (last was concussion protocol late last year), and no suspension (despite three yellow cards early in the season, 19pts is a suspension but the most he could have is 18pts).

Rumours from Silkeborg fans are now that the opposition FC Midtjylland, who play Europa League and developed Winston Reid from youth to pro, are the team that have provided the value of bid that Silkeborg will accept. Completion possible very soon.

New Zealand Men Champions League history.

With 8 games now in pool stage instead of the traditional 6 of the modern era, Joe Bell could equal Marco Stamenić at 8 appearances, behind the 🐐 Wynton. He had one season, 10 appearances: goals, joint top scorer. Also won a Cup Winners Cup and 23 goals across 44 games ignored 20 odd in the old Intertoto Cup (summer tournament for non champions league).

JOE BELL iS CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Huge. Viking FK from Norway qualify with a 3-1 win over Dinamo Zagreb 🇭🇷 to take it 5-3 on aggregate. First kiwi since Stamenić a few years ago?

Matt Dibley-Dias reunites with old U21s coach at Newport County

Surely a great start to a new loan in League 2. If he can stay fit there's the manager that had him captain and knows his technical and set piece ability as they won the Premier League Cup just a few years ago.

Came into camp with New Zealand in late 2023, but his international future is still open with Brazil, Portugal and England all possibilities.

Watford linked with Tyler Bindon on Loan

The first real talk of a loan option for Tyler, with preseason emerging that he is 6/7th best centre back, with homegrown Zach Abbott who is also linked to the same club.

Watford named here with seven different centre-backs, seemingly looking for two.

The new NZF CEO - your shortlist.

Two for starters:

Tim Brown..Will add this fellah to the mix given his heart for football, New Zealand and business success (yes it eventually crashed). Just watched this for the second time and what an understated but inspirational leader, kiwi as.

Sarai Bareman is FIFA's Chief Women's Football Officer. Big knowledge, contacts and experience from FIFA side that could help our local context immensely. Hard to imagine the pay cut it would be though, or how the scandal may affect her.

What candidates are out there?

-From NZ Sport context of other sport national governing organisations, or another business field.

- From any ex players that have developed skills and experience either in or outside football.

- Leaders in other nations that haven't lived or worked in New Zealand but may come from a culture similar enough.

UEFAFCONCACAF Joint Statement. What decisions does this give OFC and NZF?

Three confederations release a joint statement showing strength. But what happens for individual member associations - eg Australia haven't strongly opposed or called it out, but AFC has?

Or is this the power play that can't be ignored and FIFA / Infantino can only back down?

- Professional more than half your life

What do you think of his debut?
