Frontline is Blowing Up! What's Going On?

Like many of you, I keep my cell phone by my side on off days, just in case a job notification comes through on the Frontline app. Today the notifications came in fast and furious and for the first time ever, at least in my experience, no one else is taking the jobs, which are all for tomorrow. Usually they get snatched before I even pick my phone up, but there's six of them stacked up right now. I'm taking the rest of this week off, but I'm wondering: what gives? Has flu season struck already? Is there a holiday I'm unaware of? This is across all districts. Are we really that shorthanded? What's going on?

My reward: Another parking ticket!

I’m semi-retired and substitute at a local high school district a couple days a week. Two of the high schools I sub at have very large and crowded parking lots. Last week I subbed at one of them and as usual I had to park a long way, a quarter mile, from the office. After the day was over, I walk out to the car and there’s a parking ticket on the windshield. It’s not a ticket from the city it had the school’s logo on it. Apparently they need to raise some money. I called the office, three times, and left a message saying “what the heck?” Still haven’t heard back. So today I go to the other high school, park a long ways from the office, and at the end of the day, I have another ticket on my windshield. This time the office answered my call and assured me I won’t have to pay the $10 fine. In the future I’m supposed to walk in to the office, get a parking pass, walk all the way back to the car and put it on the dash then walk to wherever I’m supposed to teach for the day. It was at this point I thought to myself they really don’t give a damn about us do they?
