Next UI is an absolute game changer for the Anbernic RG SP! Thanks to those who suggested it :)
Next UI has totally changed my experience with the RG SP. I was already in love with this device, but this has made it my perfect EDC with its minimalism and lightning fast boot/load times. Not having to deal with finicky RetroArch menus has helped with immersion too in treating this like a simple GBA.
Interestingly, the subtle speaker buzz that was present on the stock OS and even in Knulli is totally gone on Next UI. It didn’t really bother me that much tbh but having it no longer present is just icing on the cake.
I’m honestly thinking of taking the simplicity and minimalism one step further and removing all the “extra” systems, just having one folder titled “games” and using it exclusively for GBA games. I think that would go a long way in eliminating just one extra layer of the dreaded choice paralysis.
Oh, this is coupled with Base OS, just fyi. And running on a single card setup.
Overall, absolutely stoked with this!
