New to all of this

Hello, thank you for taking the time to read this. I recently with my wife got into Pokemon collecting, normally I just do hockey cards and have never really dealt with this scalping and resellers. I’m just curious about how I can go about enjoying this hobby with my wife at a reasonable price and not buy into the scalpers and keep that cycle going. I tried using pokemoncenter but, I have a hard time navigating it lol. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Good Luck ripping.

TLDR: new to the hobby me and my wife and trying to understand a method to buy at or close to retail.
