Using it as a multimedia device
I’ve owned an OLED model for around 2 years, still surprises me.
Managed to use it as a multimedia hub device in order to watch BBC iPlayer while on holiday, especially with the FIFA World Cup.
Thought this post would be useful for anyone wanting to do a similar setup.
I have my deck hooked up to the TV with the official dock.
For BBC iPlayer, I use Kodi application with the iPlayerWWW add-on. Also use viwX add-on for itvX.
To get past geo-location restrictions, I use TunnelDeck, a decky loader plugin that allows for easy vpn connections toggles within game mode.
Thankfully, my vpn provider, Private Internet Access, offers OPVN configuration files to use. Had to manually add the UK optimised streaming profile on desktop mode. The plugin’s GitHub page offers detailed instructions on how to do this.
