Upcoming Heat Dome

Hey everyone!
Just wanted to remind local growers that we have a big heat dome event coming up which is going to spike the temps from nearly perfect growing conditions to heat stress by Tuesday.
Best advice on how to mitigate the heat on your plants is to try to avoid feeding nitrogen under the heat of the sun!
Keep everything wet early in the day and again right before the sun goes down if the soil is dry one inch down.
Best of luck!

Garden Season 2026

Hey everybody!
Just thought I'd check in with some garden notes for this year so far.
Learning from last year, I waited a little later until the soil was warmer this year instead of rushing out right after the danger of frost passed.
First year mixing my own soil!
The windstorm the other day took one of my Blue Cinderella 99s but I feel pretty lucky that was the extent of the losses considering how crazy the wind was. I feel that if everything was staked up the damage might have actually been worse because the plants would have been braced against the wind and probably snapped a bunch of stems so I guess I got a little lucky there!
How is everyone doing this year? Off to a good start?

Garden Season 2026

Happy start to the garden season everyone!

Beautiful day out. I have been bringing my plants outside to "harden them" before planting them outside for a couple of hours a day.

If you are unfamiliar with hardening plants, what you do is start bringing the plants that you are going to put in your harden outside for a few hours a day at first, then a few more, then a few more, and at the end of about a two week period, the plants are coming outside in the morning and staying outside all day and coming back in at night. The reason you do this is to give your plants time to acclaimate to the sunlight from the artificial lights that they are used to indoors! It helps prevent the "shock" of going right from artifical light to natural light and gets the plants the ability to start growing the minute you move them.

Any questions or tips to share for people garden growing this year?

Also, anyone who wanted to do the phenome hunt for Sour Berry Garry that didn't get a kit the first time, I still have about six kits left for anyone wanting to try phenomes of SBG and able to travel to either Spencerport or Brockport to get them

I am looking for some guinea pigs I mean brave volunteers from the community who would be interested in "taste testing" from five different phenomes of Sour Berry Garry.

Basically how this works is I give you a small sample (like a bowl worth) of five different numbered buds and you try them as your first smoke of the day and rate the flavor from one to ten. Then text me your findings and I can plug it into my spreadsheet.

If this sounds like something you would be interested in, let me know. I am located out on the west side (Greece/Spencerport/Brockport)

edit: i'll probably have one meet-up in brockport and one meet-up in spencerport where i'm handing out phenome test kits
