I'll be back from work in 8-9 hours, so plenty of time to write. The two that make me smile the most, get the codes.
I look forward to reading some stories once I get back😊
The paint I'm waiting on is from GreenStuffWorld. Absolutley the best paint I've ever used, and quite affordable too. Well, affordable if you skip a figure or two😅
Anyway, they have these chrome paints, an entire set of different nuances, which of course immediately made me think of Mando. He'd look awesome all chromed up.
Only problem is, it's alchohol based.
So, it'll potentially dissolve any layer of paint/matte coat beneath it, so I'm not sure wether to proceed or not?
Anyone have any experience with alcoholic paints on figures? Some advice would be much, much appreciated🙏
After years of wondering wether I should or should not get him, I stumbled upon him on Vinted at a low price, and just couldn't pass him up.
The base figure is a lovely little thing, beautifully scuplted and undeniably Kuiil. But the colours were wrong, perhaps it was based off of concept art?
So of to work I got! And I must say, this is probably the most fun I've had painting a figure in a long time.
It was pretty much a full repaint - a first for me - and a little daunting. But once I got the flow of it, I just couldn't stop.
Now, some 10 hours later, I am really happy with the result.
Next step: Some tools for him, perhaps?
What a figure.
I've held off on a lot of Vaders over the last decade or so, because none of them quite had the look down, not for me at least.
There was always something a bit off about them, not even the SHF Kenobi Vader did for me, and that figure is beautiful. Then this one comes along and is just perfect.
The proportions, the accesories, the use of gloss-finish, the shades of black/grey chosen throughout, the articulation, the shoulder armour, the wired cape, the choice of fabric for the inner robes, the two heads/chest pieces, the removable helmet on both, the details beneath, oh! And the RED SEE-THROUGH LENSES WITH EYES BEHIND THEM?!
Absolutely breathtaking figure.
Such a commanding presence in the display and a blast to pose. I am thrilled!
I mostly collect Black Series, but have recently started swapping some out for SHF/Mafex alternatives, and they're so beautiful. This Boba Fett in particular, is one that I've wanted since it first came out, so when the reissue was announced, I knew what I had to do lol
While The Black Series isn't bad, I think they've come a very long way in recent years, import figures just still have that edge. Even with my custom paint, the Black Series Boba just doesn't hold a candle to the SHF one. So glad I got this.
So, I'm a big fan of Peter Capaldi, and seeing him in the Criterion Closet recently, reminded me of this classic. Well, I say that, and yet when Iinitially tried watching it at the age of 13/14, it just didn't grab me. But that was a little over 10 years ago now, and I have a strong feeling it would today. So, I would love to get my hands on it, but as far as I can tell, there's only a Region A blu-ray release? Is there any hope, do you think? Or is it really time to start saving up for a region-free blu-ray player?
