Large difference in astigmatism between my eyes — could this cause aniseikonia / image rotation?

I’m 45 and I’ve recently started wearing glasses full-time after 25 years of not wearing glasses.

I have a pretty large difference between my two eyes, especially in astigmatism. I’ve attached a photo of my prescription.

My right eye is around -1.00 sphere with -0.75 cylinder, while my left eye has no significant sphere correction but has -3.00 cylinder.

With the new glasses I see very clearly with both eyes, including the left eye. However, I’ve noticed something strange when looking at myself in a small mirror or at my phone/camera.

When I have both eyes open for a while, the image sometimes feels as if the phone/mirror is slightly rotated to the left around its vertical axis, almost as if I were holding the phone slightly turned, even though I know I’m holding it straight.

I do not have double vision, dizziness, headaches or problems walking/driving. In normal situations (driving, walking outside, supermarket, etc.) I don't notice anything looking crooked. It’s mainly noticeable when I specifically look at a mirror/phone and pay attention to it.

Interestingly, if I cover one eye, I don't really notice the effect. It seems to happen mainly when both eyes are open and the brain combines the two images.

I’m wondering whether this could be related to aniseikonia or binocular adaptation, given the large difference in astigmatism between my eyes, or whether I should have the lenses checked for cylinder axis/centration.

I’m currently in my second week of adaptation to the new glasses.

Fitting is double checked and boost zone in the bottom is centered properly in front of me.

Has anyone here had a similar experience with a large difference in astigmatism between the two eyes? I’d particularly like to hear from optometrists/opticians or people with similar prescriptions.

What would you check first: adaptation, aniseikonia/binocular vision, or the actual lens axis/centration?

New progressive lenses: More blur on the right side of the distance/boost zone – normal adaptation or fitting issue?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some opinions from opticians or people experienced with progressive lenses.

I recently got my first pair of premium progressive lenses:

Escillor active Plus 0.85 Prestige 1.6

Near support (boost/add): +0.85 D

My prescription is:

OD (Right):

Sphere: -1.00

Cylinder: -0.75

Axis: 175°

OS (Left):

Sphere: Plano

Cylinder: -3.00

Axis: 12°

I'm on my first week of wearing them.

My symptoms

The center of the distance zone is clear.

The boost/near area also works well spot on center.

I have no dizziness, nausea or balance issues.

During the first few days I noticed a trapezoid/distortion effect, but it's gradually improving and sometimes I don't notice it at all anymore.

The only thing that still concerns me is this:

When I look at a distant or very close object and move my eyes toward the right side of the distance portion of the lens, the image becomes noticeably blurrier than when I move my eyes to the left. This is more obvious in the right lens, although I can notice something similar in the left lens as well.

Also, if I turn my head to the left while my eyes look toward the right side of the lens, I notice more distortion and blur.

My questions

Is this simply the normal peripheral astigmatism/design of progressive lenses?

Could this still improve as my brain adapts?

Or does it sound more like a fitting issue (PD, monocular PD, fitting height, frame adjustment, etc.)?

Does the combination of -1.00 sphere with -0.75 cylinder in the right eye and -3.00 cylinder in the left eye make this kind of asymmetry more noticeable?

I'd really appreciate any professional opinions before I go back to my optician.

Thanks!

Eyezen active plus lenses, worth it?

So I am male 45 years old and got prescribed with 3 points astigmatism on the left eye and 0.75 astigmatism with 1 myopia on the right. I also started to develop near sighted vision.

The optometrist suggested to me to get the escilor eyezen active plus 0.85 and I ordered them.

Anyone else tried these type of lenses and do they worth the cost?

Haven't weared glasses for 20 years now.

Question about solar node.

I have a Heltec v4 with a solar panel connected on the solar Port and batteries normally on the bat port.

My question is if I shut down the node from the app is there a way to boot it without the need to go to the roof and press a button? Or will it boot up the next morning with the Sunrise again?

Routing error with MQTT over proxy.

Hello.

I get a constantly flashing bluetooth icon and get this error. Settings and server are the defaults.

Any idea what's wrong?

Question about MQTT downlink, Client_Base and Zero-Cost Hops

I'm trying to optimize battery life on a rooftop Client_Base node.

Current idea: Heltec V4 at home (mains powered)

V4 configured as ROUTER (minimum tx) and MQTT gateway

Rooftop node configured as CLIENT_BASE (battery powered, no Wi-Fi)

V4 and rooftop node have each other in Favorites

Good direct LoRa link between them

Topology:

Clients ↔ Rooftop CLIENT_BASE ↔ Home ROUTER(MQTT) ↔ Internet/MQTT

My question is:

If an MQTT packet enters the mesh through the home ROUTER, will the ROUTER → CLIENT_BASE link benefit from the Zero-Cost Hop mechanism and uplink messages via Lora? Or are MQTT-originated packets treated differently and therefore consume hops normally regardless of the favorite ROUTER/CLIENT_BASE backbone?

Has anyone tested this?

I'm specifically trying to avoid running Wi-Fi on the rooftop node while still allowing nearby clients to receive MQTT downlink traffic through it.

Battery drained suddenly.

I measured the battery with a multimeter before installing and was 4.05 volts. The node showed the same in meshtastic app but after 40% it drained to 0% in no time.

GPS was off and everything else stayed the same.

Edit: Looks like the battery gauge of the node is calibrated to show percentage for li ion batteries.

Is show 50% for 3.72v that for a lipo is more or less 15%.

Question about node relay.

Let's say 2 nodes are out of range and a node goes between them without broadcasting info or is not discovered yet.

Will this node relay messages for the other 2 without exchanging info first?

Question about node info broadcast interval.

I was wondering if I can unset Node info interval on my client base gateway rooftop node to save battery.

Will this have any effect on network and other nodes that could not discover it early? Will it rebroadcast messages for them?

Can't add a second channel

I am trying to set up a second channel through remote admin on my rooftop node but no matter what, the channel disappears.

I do press the send button and the message status is success but then only the primary channel remains.

Question about Store & Forward

It only works when I message "SF" to the server.

Is it possible to automatically forward the messages without sending "SF"?

Question about Client base favorites.

In an area with multiple client bases, what will happen if we favorite each other bases and nodes.

Will this create network congestion and traffic collisions?

Overvoltage on Solar node.

Hi.

This is my heltec v4 with 2×18650 3500mah batteries and a solar panel of 6v 600mah connected directly on the solar port.

Why is it overcharging the batteries? I thought it should stop at 4.20v?
